Mayday Multimedia is an independent multimedia collective committed to the struggle for labor rights in the Philippines. Founded in 2004 as the video production unit of the Ecumenical Institute for Labor Education and Research (EILER, Inc.), Mayday has established itself as a separate entity on 2008. Since then, they have worked with people’s organizations and trade unions to produce audio-visual works that give an accurate and compelling picture of the condition and struggles of Filipino workers. They hold community screenings for working class communities, including the Sine Obrero (Workers’ Cinema) film screenings held on the picketlines of strikes. Mayday’s films have participated in various local and international film festivals including the Taiwan International Labor Film Festival, Canadian Labour International Film Festival, and Gawad Alternatibo among others.
